What are Organigraphs?
Posted in Communication | Email This PostOrganigraphs are basically organizational charts that are used to explain formal and informal communication and the flow of the information. One can find few limitations while explaining the flow of information through organizational charts. It s like the pictures of the album of a company and tell the things one is mesmerized with the company. However in the today’ world it has become a kind of irrelevant. Everything is considered as an independent box by these organizational charts. The chain of authority connects everyone with on these boxes. The trends of communication are changing very fast and everything has been dramatically changed to a complex structure. It is not at all easy to understand the working of an organization due to this complex structure.
An organigraph explains that how various people, systems and work places are connected with each other. It helps to explain the various factors all together and they all tend to work for the new components like hubs and webs. Organigraphs are not only the simple pictures they are like maps. They provide overall overview of the organization working condition and the outlay of territory of the organization like the position of its rivers, town and roads that tends to connect all these things with each other. It is mainly connected with relationship and processes rather than names and titles. The main components of organigraph include sets, chain, hubs and webs. Every organization is a set of people that run machines and hence it is the combination of both people and machines. These sets are group of people that work together and share common resources but they are working independently and hence they are said to be interconnected with each other. This connection is shown by another form called chain. Value chains and supply chains are used to describe the strategies because the chains are very much embedded in organizational institution. The hub is considered as the coordination centre and it is a conceptual or physical point where people, information and things move. It includes all the things like computer systems, machines, building of the organization.
Connections of the movement are sometimes very complicated. The concept of web is basically much entangled. Webs are called as the grid which has no centre. They make the possibility of the open end communication and movement of ideas and people in a free motion. The traditional chain of the shawl company is like the traditional chain of communication. The chain of communication is studied on the basis of the organigraph. The formal and informal communications are studied in the form of the graphs that are complicated in the nature. The complexity of the organization depends upon the system of work going on in that organization. The chain, set, hub and web are the basic components of the organigraph. The chain of the organization connects it to the system of the organization. The organigraphs are not merely an image but it is like the map that shows where the complete organization lies and where it connects you with it. The web, hub, chains and sets are basic needs of the organigraph. The main coordination centre is the hub only. The concept of the hub is introduced so as to simplify the concept of the movement of the connections. There is no centre for the grids like web. Hence it allows the open ended communication of the workers in the organization. The free movement of the people and the ideas is important outcome of the web. Traditional hierarchy are completely out of order no a days. The complex organizational forms are taking the place of old and traditional systems. In result these complex structures it is difficult to understand the working of any kind of the organization. Hence organigraph is very useful in this case. It helps to simplify the things in order to make sure that system of the organization is moving smoothly without any problem in it.
