In order to circulate a message to a large number of the people a mass mean is arranged. There are number of methods by which a message can be conveyed to the large number of the people. However these means of the mass communication can also be very harmful for us if not used properly and in a positive sense. The means of mass communication are the sensitive to be used as they can create a big understanding if fake news is passed on to the public. The methods used for this purpose include the exhibitions and trade fair, films, press releases, publications, radios, folk media, television and sponsoring sports tournaments. These types of the mass communication are used when message is to be given all over the large places like district, state, country or all over the world. The trade fairs are conducted to inform and educate the public about the product of the company and its benefits to them. They also explain the advantages of their product over the other product of other companies. The displays and demonstration of the product of the company helps to attract the people and produce their interest in the product of their company. The photographs, printed booklets and handouts or pamphlets are given to the visitors in the fairs free of the cost. The cost of these fairs comes in the budget of the company. Any organization exhibits their product for its publicity.
It will increase the value of the product among the public. The press release is also the other option for the mass communication methods. The press release can opted for on the event of opening of new branch of a company, retirement of a personality, launching a new product etc. the press release can be of vital importance to everyone in the public. The films are also used to make the advertisement of the products. Big business organization makes the film on their products. These films are shown to the public on the different events for the promotion of their products with the help of the vans of that particular organization only. Local theatres are also used for this purpose or these types of the films are also included in the interval time of any movie so that awareness can be made in the public about the product. The sound, color, light and actions make the things more effective. Hence the advertisement by using all these things makes it interesting and public become attracted to it readily. Hence film can provide this type of impact on the public. However organization needs to keep in mind the budget as the cost of such advertisement is very high. The other good sources of the mass communication are the bulletin, annual reports, house organs etc. These types of the communication provide the information about the product of the company, its achievement and activities. The people who are interested in this take the advantage of these types of the publication.
The main drawback is that it cannot be understood by the illiterate person. Moreover very few pay attention to these types of the publication and they throw the pamphlets away without reading them. The radios are the promising medium for mass communication process. It is the audio medium which is very useful for the illiterate people. It’s effect are increased if there is proper background music and proper tuning. Radio can approach the people easily. Now a days due to invention of new sources of mass communication the effects and use of radio has been decreased. Its effect has been decreased also due to low memory value. The popularity of the radio has been decreased due to other fast mediums of mass communication. The television is the other popular medium for the mass communication. It applies both the sights and signal and hence helps in transmitting the both audio and video message to the public. It provides the advantage of both the action and sight. The high degree of imagination and creativity is required to make the impact of the television more effective. In today’s world, there is the wide spread use of the television. Hence it becomes the most effective medium of mass communication in the today’s world. However it is an expensive means and it needs a high budget to be fulfilled so it cannot be afforded by the lower classes. The local fairs, puppet show, magic show, decorated festoons etc are very effective methods for the mass communication among the people of different caste, religion and culture in India.
However folk media too have a limited coverage. It cannot be attended by everyone hence its scope is also limited to the people of that very region in which that is taking place. Now a day’s new trends of sponsoring the sports tournaments is gaining the popularity as the medium of mass communication. Multinational companies like that of Coca Cola, Titan, Pepsi etc sponsor various tournaments of cricket or other sports at national and international level for the purpose of mass communication. Even the bats of the batsmen in the cricket also bear various advertisements of the products. The popularity of the products also gets increased with popularity of the batsmen in the cricket. The small companies also do the same by sponsoring the cricket tournaments at the small level for making the friendly image of their company in the public. Hence the different methods used for the mass communication are effective in their own way. The internet in now days is playing a very important in spreading any information across the whole world in very short span of time like a fire in the forest. One can search for any information by browsing in the different browsers available like that of Internet Explorer, Google, Mozilla Firefox etc. These help in spreading the information to the mass and but holds a coverage area of the literate people only. It is because the illiterate are again left untouched to this mean of the mass communication.
