What is Précis Writing?
The word Précis is in fact derived from the Praecism, a Latin word that refers to the meaning of cutting short. So in the other words it can be said that Précis is a short form of the passage in which the relevant and the essential details are kept and irrelevant and inessential details are excluded very carefully. This type of the writing is a type of the exercise that is very intellectual in the nature and also demands a sense of the discrimination that is very fair for the purpose of its execution. It demands the very clear thinking power of the selection, the discriminating abilities and the very good hold and the command of the vocabulary in order to handle the same very properly. There is no kind of the involvement of the omission of the certain part of the passage whereas it almost concentrates on the reproduction of the selected matter in the form of a paragraph. There must be a logical unity in this type of the writing. The Précis must be very easily intangible to the person who is not at all aware of the original one.
